WORLD WAR 111 ?

Fear that this  Syrian war and the recent downing  of Russian war jet  by Turkish forces may lead to the Third World War is seriously gripping the  whole world. The link below gave an insight to  the whole situation.   The question people are asking is, how can we avoid this Third World War that is looming around? How can this Syrian War  come to an end? If the whole world is  at war, who will intervene ? Why should the Syrian president continue to hold unto his office while innocent citizens are being killed every second in his country, since part of the problem is to remove him in office?  The world's supper powers have divided themselves, some are supporting  and equipping the President of Syria, while others are doing same to the Rebels. There could be a clash of the titians if care is not taken. How is this not World War III?
